Szafirki (Muscari )

The genus Muscari, commonly and collectively known as grape hyacinths, are a group of deciduous plants native to Eurasia that produce urn-shaped spikes of dense, most commonly blue, flowers resembling bunches of grapes in the spring. White cultivars also exist.

Time for me to play hooky...

Czesław Miłosz "Dobranoc"

„Żadnych obowiązków. Nie muszę być głęboki.
Nie muszę być artystycznie wspaniały.
Ani podniosły. Ani budujący.
Wędruje sobie. Powiadam: „Goniłeś,
No to i dobrze. Czas był po temu”.
A teraz muzyka światów odmienia mnie.
W inny znak wchodzi moja planeta.
Drzewa i trawniki wyraźnieją.
Lepsze to niż badać swoje sny.
Tymczasem urastało. Już jest, niewidzialne.
Ani zgadnąć jak, tutaj, wszędzie.
inni tym się zajmą. A ja na wagary.
Buena notte. Ciao. Farewell.”

Czesław Miłosz GOOD NIGHT

No duties. I don't have to be profound.
I don't have to be artistically perfect.
Or sublime. Or edifying.
I just wander. I say: "You were running,
That's fine. It was the thing to do."
And now the music of the worlds transforms me.
My planet enters a different house.
Trees and lawns become more distinct.
Philosophies one after another go out.
Everything is lighter yet not less odd.
Sauces, wine vintages, dishes of meat.
We talk a little of district fairs,
Of travels in a covered wagon with a cloud of dust behind,
Of how rivers once were, what the scent of calamus is.
That's better than examining one's private dreams.
And meanwhile it has arrived. It's here, invisible.
Who can guess how it got here, everywhere.
Let others take care of it. Time for me to play hooky.
Buona notte. Ciao. Farewell.

Czesław Miłosz To, co pisałem, Antologia wierszy.
wyb. i oprac. Włodzimierz Bolecki
,
Wyd. "Świat Książki", Warszawa 1998

Cytat z :
http://wyborcza.pl

Villa Villoresi in Sesto Fiorentino

My husband is visiting Florence on his business trip.
He stays at a very beautiful hotel Villa Villoresi.
I have found some information about this hotel and…
I had to post about it:).

http://www.villavilloresi.it/ing/index.html

On the side mentioned above is written:

The Villa:In the XII century was built as a fortress for the defence of Florence, 5 miles away.

During the Renaissance was transformed into a country residence, enlarged and enriched with works of art, gardens and parks. To this period dates the Loggia, the longuest terrace in Tuscany opening onto the formal garden, with lemontrees, roses and wild orangetrees, full of light and perfumes.

The Villa is registered as a National Monument for his historical and artistic importance, still contains much of its original frescoes, decor and furnishing. Each family has left evident traces of their taste and of the fashions of their times. It came to us mainly in its Renaissance aspect. Among the various legends there is one saying that Gemma Donati, Dante Alighieri's wife, lived at the Villa during the early part of the poete exile.

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the villa was the summer residence of the Villoresi family. In the sixties, Luigi and Clarissa Villoresi decided to turn the Villa into Hotel, adapting carefully all services without altering the athmosphear, traditionally warm and welcoming, keeping intact the elegance and the charm of other times

Sade

Po 10 latach milczenia Sade ukazal się nowy wspaniale brzmiacy album...

The Moon And The Sky Lyrics
I was the one
I who could
Pull in all the stars above
Lay them on your feet
And I gave you my love
You are the one that got me started
You could have let me
Love anyone but i only wanted you
So why did you make me cry
Why didn't you come get me one last time
You'll always know the reason why
We could have had the moon and the sky
You'll always know the reason why this love
Reason why this love
Ain't gonna let you go
You lay me down and left me for the lions
A long, long time ago
You left me there dying
But you'll never let me go
You'll always know the reason why
We could have had the moon and the sky
You'll always know the reason why this love
Reason why this love
Ain't gonna let you go
You'll always know the reason why
The song you heard
Will stay on your mind
It ain't gonna let you go, no
'cos you were the moon
And I the endless sky
You'll always know the reason why
We could have had the moon and the sky
You'll always know the reason why this love
Reason why this love
Ain't gonna let you go
Ain't gonna let you go
You had the keys to the car
You had every star
Every one of them twinkling
Baby what were you thinking
We had the moon and the sky above
And I gave you my love

Pink Glove Dance

You have to watch this video from Portland , Oregon

Here's the story behind the video.

"Our daughter-in-law, Emily (MacInnes) Somers, created, directed and
choreographed this in Portland last week for her Medline glove division as > a
fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. This was all her idea to help
promote their new pink gloves.

I don't know how she got so many employees, doctors and patients to
participate, but it started to really catch on and they all had a lot of > fun
doing it. When the video gets 1 million hits, Medline will be making a huge
contribution to the hospital, as well as offering free mammograms for the
community. Please check it out. It's an easy and great way to donate to > a
wonderful cause, and who hasn't been touched by breast cancer?

Please forward this in honor of all the women we know and all we have lost.
Thanks.

Watercolor painting
Techniques

Wet in wet
Wet in wet includes any application of paint or water to an area of the painting that is already wet with either paint or water. In general, wet in wet is one of the most distinctive features of watercolor painting and the technique that produces a striking painterly effect.

The essential idea is to wet the entire sheet of paper, laid flat, until the surface no longer wicks up water but lets it sit on the surface, then to plunge in with a large brush saturated with paint. This is normally done to define the large areas of the painting with irregularly defined color, which is then sharpened and refined with more controlled painting as the paper (and preceding paint) dries.

Wet in wet actually comprises a variety of specific painting effects, each produced through different procedures. Among the most common and characteristic:

Backruns (also called blossoms, blooms, oozles, watermarks, backwashes or runbacks). Because the hydrophilic and closely spaced cellulose fibers of the paper provide traction for capillary action, water and wet paint have a strong tendency to migrate from wetter to drier surfaces of the painting. As the wetter area pushes into the dryer, it plows up pigment along its edge, leaving a lighter colored area behind it and a darker band of pigment along an irregular, serrated edge. Backruns can be subtle or pronounced, depending on the consistency of the paint in the two areas and the amount of moisture imbalance. Backruns can be induced by adding more paint or water to a paint area as it dries, or by blotting (drying) a specific area of the painting, causing the wetter surrounding areas to creep into it. Backruns are often used to symbolize a flare of light or the lighting contour on an object, or simply for decorative effect.
